“OSLA provides a perfect combination of small classes for individualized student attention and the Christ-centered education. I also love overhearing the simple conversations, seeing the daily hugs, and watching the older students mentor the younger students.” — Lisa Jarsen, mom of one daughter in ninth year at OSLA

“OSLA is unique in that it has a close-knit community among parents, students, and teachers. Plus students have abundant opportunities for one-on-one growth and participation in clubs and extra-curricular activities.”
— Michael Griedl, fourth grade teacher

History
Our Savior Lutheran Academy (OSLA) is a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, serving students in preschool through eighth grade. The school is affiliated with Our Savior Lutheran Church, which is a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. In September 1996, the church opened a daycare for preschool-age children. As the daycare became more academically focused, it evolved into a preschool with extended care.

In August 2001, the lower school program was founded, and the first kindergarten class matriculated. Ten years later, in May 2011, the first eighth grade graduation was held. The church continues to provide both prayerful and financial support of the academy.

Faculty
OSLA’s faculty is both experienced and dedicated, bringing a combined average of 16 years of teaching experience to the classroom. One-third of the full-time faculty has advanced degrees in education.  Each teacher has a professional plan to focus on individual skill development as well as a personal dedication to continually strengthen the school’s overall academic program.

Student Body
A majority of the OSLA student body resides in Southern Davidson and Northern Williamson counties. OSLA parents are those in search of a highly academic and Christ-centered school for their children. One-third of OSLA students are members of Our Savior Lutheran Church; the remaining two-thirds are members at other area churches or are looking for a church home.

Technology

OSLA is a one-to-one technology school.  Students in pre-k are introduced to technology opportunities using the SMARTboard in their classroom.  Our lower school students (K-5th) are able to use netbooks to enhance their school experience.   When students enter our middle school in sixth grade, they are assigned a netbook.  Upon eighth graduation, the netbook becomes the property of the OSLA graduate.
