A typical day in the lower school at OSLA begins with a devotion, prayers, and the Christian Pledge and the Pledge of Allegience. Both math and language arts classes are scheduled for the morning time. Lower school students enjoy a mid-morning snack (something nutrious brought from home) prior to a mid-morning recess. The afternoons are reserved for Bible, hands on science activities and social studies.
The curriculum at OSLA is enriched with art, music, Spanish, and physical education twice a week for each class. Children in kindergarten through 2nd grade use netbook computers in their classrooms for review, practice, and enrichment. The 3rd through 5th grade students have their own netbook computer assigned to them to learn typing skills, as well as review, practice, and enrich their daily studies. When students get to our middle school (6th-8th grade), each student will have their textbooks installed on his or her computer and be able to take their netbook home each night.
Library is scheduled on Wednesdays for a half hour for each class. Teachers schedule the library for additional usage throughout the week.
